    Lyrebird Ridge News July 2014

    July 25, 2014

The last year and a half has seen us take a break from the cellar door.

During this time we have worked on replacing and mending some of the infrastructure around the property. After loosing the netting covering the vineyard during a mini tornado, we have been working at changing our method of protecting the grapes. We now use a combined approach to protect the fruit from birds, using both roll on nets and bagging the fruit. This proved to be quite successful and after our two year battle with the birds and heavy losses of fruit, we are now looking forward to better seasons.

This season’s harvest went well and with the dry weather, we were able to successfully complete a 2014 vintage. As we re-build our stocks for the cellar, the cellar door will continue to operate on an appointment only basis.
