    Lyrebird Ridge after the fires

    Storage Shed after the fire

On January 4th 2020 the Currawan Fire made its way through Budgong. A Summer we will not easily forget along with the lessons in love, resilience, community spirit and gratitude.

Returning to the property, days after the fire, was in some ways a relief from the stress of constantly watching and waiting as the fires moved north.

The property was burnt around the edges but with no damage to our home, our accommodation or our cellar door.

The clean up continues 6 months down the track, to clear the damaged trees & vegetation, replace fencing & burnt out sheds. Hard work, yes, but not without the presence of some beautiful moments. The bush is regenerating, the people are rebuilding and the wildlife is returning. Budgong looks different but it will always be a special corridor of Australian bush and our home.
