Close to Kangaroo Valley and Nowra

Lyrebird Ridge Orgnic Winery and Retreat is situated twenty minutes south west of the picturesque Kangaroo Valley and 15 kms from Nowra in the Shoalhaven district. The winery has been developed over fifteen years; the first vines being planted in 1994.

Wildlife

Forty acres of land provides an abundant range of birds and wildlife with the shy Lyrebird being glimpsed in the natural bush corridors running through the property.

Fishing

There are five dams located around the property allowing for irrigation, fishing for silver perch, yabbying and swimming.

Sustainability and solar power

The energy requirement for the home, bed and breakfast accommodation and winery are supplied using solar power and generator. Large tanks provide our fresh water needs.

BBQ

A covered BBQ area is ideally situated at the edge of a large grassed area, between the cellar door, overlooking a natural gully and the vineyards.

Visitors and guests are welcome to utilise these facilities at any time during their stay.

Organic Chambourcin

The Chambourcin grape is suitable as a table grape, it is of hybrid heritage and well known for the strong colour and capacity to resist disease, making it ideally suited to organic wine making. Chambourcin is the main grape variety grown with tastings of our available vintages as well as our port available at our cellar door.

No chemicals, no preservatives

Durif and Villard Blanc varieties are also grown here and currently being trialled using organic growing and wine making techniques. From vine to bottle, totally produced on our premises, our organic wine contains no chemicals and is spray and preservative free. High in anti-oxidants and with no known allergens it can be recommended as a healthier alternative to those preferring chemical free wine.

Chickens free range among the vines providing organic fertiliser and with other, natural predators assist to maintain strong, healthy vines. The vineyards are fenced and completely covered with netting to keep out kangaroos, wombats, birds and rabbits.
